He became a local talent in this native community of Harrisburg, PA and opened for acts like Surface, Sweet T, Kid N Play, Kwame, MC Hammer. These experiences allowed him the opportunity to tour nationally and internationally.

In 1992, Moncell met Buddha Stretch of Mop-Top Crew, who became a key figure in Moncell’s comprehension of New York street dance culture. In 1998 Moncell meet Rennie Harris and was invited to join Rennie’s company Puremovement, which allowed him the opportunity to study a variety of black street dance forms. He has trained and performed with members of the Lockers, the Electric Boogaloos, Mop-Top Crew, and the Rennie Harris Theater Company Pure Movement. To supplement his work, Moncell has analyzed both scholarly and popular literature in relation to African American vernacular dance forms, in particular, and dance studies, in general.

Since 2003 to present Moncell serves as an adjunct professor at Drexel University, Wesleyan University and Montgomery College, Moncell will attend Roehampton University in London in the fall of 2010 to earn his MA in Dance Anthropology.
